FAIR & LOVELY LAUNCHES “FACE EXPERT” PROGRAM

The market today is cluttered with many skin care products that have questionable credentials and no established standards. Such products are currently being used by salons that are unaware of their quality standards which could be harmful, says Nayana Karunaratne, a beautician.

“With Fair & Lovely Salon Face Expert Programme, we hope to educate the salon owners of the need to ensure all products used in the salon are of acceptable quality and benefit to consumers”, said Ms. Karunaratene.

She was addressing the recent introduction of the Fair & Lovely ‘Face Expert’ a programme, with the objective of empowering the Sri Lankan salon industry. The programme is being introduced with the collaboration of Ms. Karunaratne and is expected to benefit the many consumers, who obtain beauty treatment from salons in Sri Lanka. It was also observed that the country has witnessed a rapid growth of the beauty industry in the last few years, which has resulted in a remarkable increase in the number of salons around the country.

Many Sri Lankan women who are salon owners will be empowered through the programme while the consumers will be given the opportunity to experience high quality beauty products and treatments. Given the fact that many gaps exist in the level of knowledge and standards practiced in the overall salon industry, it is believed that the programme would offer world class knowledge and expertise that will bridge the gap.

In the process, the salon owners would be able to uplift their level of expertise and provide a safer, high quality experience to the consumer, added Ms. Karunaratne.

Fair & Lovely, a well known and trusted brand that has always offered a range of safe and high quality face care products, has taken this initiative to launch a unique program that aims to empower the salon industry by uplifting the standards and addressing the knowledge gaps said Ms Sharmila Bandara, Marketing Manager, Skin Care and Deo of Unilever Sri Lanka. She added that Fair & Lovely had chosen to collaborate with one of Sri Lanka’s leading beauticians, Ms. Nayana Karunaratne, to ensure that the program would be developed and implemented with the highest standards possible.

Imeshika Kariyawasam, Senior Brand Manager, Fair & Lovely says that Fair & Lovely Face Expert Academy will provide a comprehensive training programme covering skin care and industry know-how under Nayana Karunaratne for 500 salon professionals through a series of workshops planned to be held during the year.

The salon owners would be selected based on criteria of relevance. The programme will also comprise of different stages, during which the participating salon owners will have the opportunity to improve the standards of the salons by adding new equipment and ensuring that an improved look is presented in their salons. Kariyawasam assured that the programme would thus uniquely empower the salon professionals towards obtaining a greater level of professionalism which would also result in a significant improvement in the service levels offered to consumers.

Commenting on her association with Fair & Lovely Face Expert programme as the key resource person, Nayana Karunaratne noted that she was indeed pleased to be associated with such an initiative.

“As our salon industry has grown, we have always strived to introduce high standards and a high quality work ethic to the industry. We view this as one such opportunity to share world class knowledge with salon owners who will undoubtedly benefit from the exposure and be more confident to offer a better service to their clientele,” she said.

Fair & Lovely Face Expert programme is targeted to reach 500 salons in Western, Southern and Central provinces within this year. The first session of this program will be launched in Colombo on January 29 and will be rolled out to other provinces and is expected to be completed during this one year period.

Imeshika Kariyawasam also emphasized the need for such education and mentioned that Fair & Lovely a brand that had been trusted by Sri Lankan consumers for over 20 years for its quality will do its best to make such initiative through which many Sir Lankan consumers can be benefited.

“As a brand that has enabled and empowered women from its inception, Fair & Lovely will continue its commitment through this program to empower salon owners with a comprehensive and a sustainable initiative. We look forward to extending the Face Expert Program in many ways and to many areas for the benefit of many consumers in the future” said Siddharth Banerjee, Marketing Director, Home & Personal Care Unilever Sri Lanka.
