Sri Lankan Airlines In Flight Safety Film
Feb 08, 2012 (SLBO) - UK based AB - a digital graphic design studio - was approached by Sri Lankan Airlines to produce Sri Lankan Airlines' in-flight safety video. The 3D animated film was produced by AB using animation specialists, with the project being creatively managed and directed by AB. From initial safety guidelines AB developed the script, characters and animation style, producing storyboards and animatics at the development stage through to liaising during production with Sri Lankan's UK IFE agency, Spafax in London and Sri Lankan Airlines in Columbo.
By implementing detailed production schedules, clear sign-off procedures and effective management of feedback from multiple contact points, AB was able to ensure the project was delivered on time and on budget.
According to officials of AB, in addition to the above the team at AB were able to offer creative input whilst also being aware of the rigorous safety guidelines imposed by the airlines governing body. In some cases this input avoided delays because of clear forward thinking on AB's part. "An example to illustrate this was to suggest additional scenes within the film to better communicate life jacket procedures - these scenes were well received by the client and immediately approved" officials note.
AB was established in 1983 as a two-man graphic design studio. Then later the company set up AB Multimedia in 2000 to meet the increasing demand for digital solutions. Then, in 2005, they launched their moving image department so they could create films and animations in-house.
