SL-Indonesia Business Council welcomes New Indonesian Ambassador


Feb 03, 2013 (SLBO) - The Sri Lanka - Indonesia Business Council (SLIBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce organised a Welcome Reception to Harimawan Suyitno, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Sri Lanka on January 31, 2013 at the Union Ballroom, Hilton Colombo Residence.

The Sri Lanka - Indonesia Business Council (SLIBC) was inaugurated on August 30, 1991, under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce with the main objective of promoting trade, investment, services and tourism between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

Jatinder Biala, Director/ General Manager of ISIN Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. is the current President of SLIBC.

Welcoming the Ambassador, Biala recognized Indonesia with a large wealth of natural resources, other industries etc. And it's becoming one of the very few fast growing economies in the world while some developed nations have experienced some negative growth. He highlighted the potentially important opportunities and advantages the Sri Lankan business community can achieve by fostering healthy trade relationship between these two brotherly nations particularly after the post war scenario.



Biala spelt out in detail the role of SLIBC and the actual work performed as a link in improving and strengthening bilateral relationships between Sri Lanka and Indonesia and to develop new initiatives and areas to co-operate and exchange of trade missions. He further reiterated the commitment of the business council to support the activities of the Indonesian Embassy on this matter and also expressed his satisfaction in the support consistently extended by the embassy.

Biala concluded on a positive note highlighting the steady growth of the active corporate membership of the business council in the recent past while thanking all the members and dignitaries attended in a well organized event.

In his address he emphasised the importance of promoting business relationship between the two countries. He stated that with collaborative efforts it would be possible to achieve the target of 1 billion USD through bilateral trades between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

The networking evening was attended by over 70 members and dignitaries. It provided the opportunity for to interact and share the views with the new Ambassador of Indonesia.
