Aark Holdings to invest in key industries
Jan 14, 2013 (SLBO) - Mega "Qubic Square" office to open over 10,000 job opportunities Aark Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. a new mega conglomerate announced an investment of US$ 100 Million for its operations in Sri Lanka. Below are the excerpts of an interview with Janith Dias Bandaranaike CEO of Aark Holdings (Pvt) Ltd.
Q: What are the areas and sectors Aark Holdings will be looking at?
A: We are set to establish over 72 companies under a spectrum of industries, including Wind Power, Automobiles, Communication, Media, Hospitality, Export Trading and Eco Friendly businesses in Sri Lanka. Importantly we have also identified green sustainable opportunities in categories such as Eco-Ratings, Eco-Plantation, Eco-City, Eco-Homes, Keep Clean Pro, E-Pro Transport, Surf By E-pro, E-Pro Automobiles, E-Pro Residence, E-Pro Materials, E-Pro care, E-Pro Entertainment and E-pro Costumes. We believe that these industries have immense potential in our country and we further believe through our expansion in to these areas of business this will further highlight our company philosophy.
Q: Which areas do you operate at the moment?
A: We are strongly recognized in the field of Wind Power. Through One of our subsidiary companies Wind Power Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. an energy efficiency wind energy farm, we initiated a 6 Mega Watts (MW) grid with Switzerland initially which. Recently A micro study was conducted the Chinese United Association and the China Guodian Group Corp. which is one of the largest state-owned power generation groups in China to enhance the national grid to a 100 MW wind power generator together with the help of the Government of Sri Lanka.
Q: Where will the operations be based?
A: We have planned to build our premises branded 'Qubic Square' which will be launched shortly as an operations base to all our companies. Supporting our company HR, Customer Support, Financial and Marketing operations. This will open a minimum of 10,000 employment opportunities through our establishment, which also includes openings in affiliate companies.
Q: Who are the main investors for this establishment?
A: A series of global donations and funding including grants from Cash Money Bank - Miami, funding from Heaven on Earth Africa Charity Project and various organizations in Switzerland, UK and the US will be directed through BOI for the establishment of the largest conglomerate in Sri Lanka.
Q: Why did you decide on launching such a project?
A: We are thrilled to introduce a concept which will further enrich our country and economy. There is no better time than the present to raise the bar of our country, our heritage and what we as Sri Lanka truly stand for. I would like to thank His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapakse for granting us his blessings to introduce the latest technology, innovation research and development enhancing our whole country. We are here to make a difference and be the difference. The stage is now set to build an Aark Millennia.
Furthermore the launch ceremony will encompass a series of Carnivals in Galle Face Green titled 'I am Aark'. The concept is all about truth, genuine motives, real beliefs and humanity which create unity, friendship of our fellow citizens. The series of events is set to embed and promote ethnic harmony, honesty economic growth and financial stability. To strengthen consumer engagement a SMS campaign will be launched in parallel which entitles entrants to receive impressive cash benefits through an online raffle draw.
